Conquerants Tie Tigers, Fight Costs Both Multiple Players


The Lac St Louis Tigers hosted the Conquerants de Basses Laurentides Sunday at the Complexe Sportif Saint Raphael. The Tigers entered the game needing a win and the franc jeu point to advance against first overall Abitibi.

The Conquerants opened the scoring with 3:20 remaining in the first. The Conquerants added to their lead with a goal at the 10:14 mark of the second period.

But Antonios Roumeliotis narrowed the lead to 2-1 on a tremendous effort at 17:30. Jordan Durand and Antony Massarelli assisted on the goal. This goal ignited the Tigers and Captain Nick Impellizzeri evened the score with 23 seconds remaining in the second. Michael Davila and Sam Noreau collected helpers on the goal.

The two teams entered the third and the pace and energy was very high, physical play on both sides maintained the energy.

The Conquerants took the lead again 3:01 of the third.

The Tigers rallied again as Sam Noreau added an unassisted goal on a deflected slapshot less than a minute and half later.

The game finished in a 3-3 tie. As the teams attended to the traditional handshake, all hell broke loose and the end result saw 5 Tigers and 5 Conquerants suspended. The Tigers received a total of 161 minutes in penalties, lost 6 players to suspension.

Coach Sam Ghilarducci was also suspended....recieving three games for the Tigers participation in the post game altercation.
