The Lac St Louis Tigers traveled to Rosemere to visit the Seigneurs de Mille Iles. This marked the fourth contest between the two teams, and the final regular season game of the season for the Tigers.
The Tigers entered the game in fourth place, 7 wins 4 losses and 1 tie. The Tigers were missing 6 regular players due to suspension. Four call ups were in uniform, Alex Soumakis, Eyal Azimov, Jesse Turrin and Ryan Patulli.
The game opened at a quick pace, and Seigneurs de Mille Iles got on the board first...scoring at 3:20 mark of the first. The tigers continued their quick pace and responded with an equalizer at 8:19 of the first with Alternate Captain Holden Anderson blasting a point shot past the Seigneurs goalie. The Anderson goal was a result of some excellent work in the quiet area beside the goalie by Michael Davila...who was able to feed a pass to Soty Pitsikoulis, who then froze the Seigneurs forwards long enough to complete the pass to Anderson.
The second period saw more fast action hockey, but in this stanza the Tigers were making more progress...the pressure they applied on the Seigneurs defense led to scoring opportunities and finally, at the 7:35 mark, Alex Soumakis found Soty Pitsikoulis at the point. Pisikoulis froze the forward again, and moved the puck to Ryan Patulli for the one timer which found the back of the net. The Tigers had now moved into a 2-1 lead.
Just about six minutes later, the Tigers would strike , again. This time Jordan Durand had the puck down low and outworked the Seigneurs defenseman and move the puck back to Soty Pisikoulis, who got off a shot which Timmy Daigneault deflected past the Seigneurs goalie. The Tigers now had a 3-1 lead.
The Seigneurs would narrow the score to 3-2 before the second period would come to an end.
Te third period was more fast paced hockey. The Tigers found them selves with penalty trouble as the period progressed. The Tigers, who had no penalties in the first and second, found themselves in the penalty box five times.
And, the Seigneurs were able to convert one of these power play opportunities to even the score.
"A tremendous team effort, what a pleasure to work with these kids, " Coach D'Astoli had to say after the game. " Skill, speed, back check and character...we could do some damage in the playoffs if we are prepared to duplicate this effort every outing," continued D"Astoli.
Frederick Vandal was the goalie of record for the tigers. Soty Pitsikoulis (photo) lead the Tigers with three assists.
The Tigers will enter their playoffs on Friday March 27th. They won't know their seeding until the season ends and the final standings are established. For more information, you may view the link below for the playoff ladder.
